Opening at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts the German exhibition "Ecology.Design.Synergy" from October 2-25, 2011 in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut in Jordan .
Every day, the media reports an imminent climate disaster, melting ice-caps and the ever-increasing hole in the ozone layer. The problems we are about to face are overwhelming and we cannot offer comprehensive solutions. Nonetheless, we must work on linking future economic development and the exploration of the environment and nature in such a way that coming generations are not deprived of opportunities and development. This course of action is defined as sustainability. It is one of our most important tasks for the future, and it presents contemporary architecture with a particular challenge: what we build today, and the way we build it, will help determine the future.
In the exhibition, both common and company-specific projects are presented in an attempt to assess the results of previous collaboration, as well as perspectives for the future. Among the projects that will be displayed are the RiverParc Development in Pittsburgh, the Senscity Paradise Universe in Las Vegas/Nevada and the Norddeutsche Landesbank in Hanover.
The exhibition is the result of a joint effort between the German Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (ifa), the forum of architecture Aedes, and the Stuttgart-based architectural firms Behnisch Architekten and TransSolar ClimateEngineering. The two firms have been collaborating for many years in an endeavor to develop solutions for sustainable and responsible architecture on an international scale.
By orientating the arrangement to the sensuous perception of mankind, curator Frank Ockert illustrates that a sensitive and responsible approach to the man-made environment is not only a matter for experts, but for each individual person.
